Wayne Rooney says he cannot wait to team up with Carlos Tevez at Manchester United. West Ham hitman Tevez arrived in Manchester last night but may have to wait for his medical after the clubs failed to agree a transfer fee. United and the Hammers held talks at the Premier League’s offices in London. A West Ham spokesman confirmed: “No agreement has been reached in relation to Carlos Tevez.” United are still hopeful of pushing the deal through though. And Rooney insisted: “Tevez will be a great signing and I’d really look forward to playing alongside him up front if we can get him."

The Sun also claims Sir Alex Ferguson is confident of achieving success on all fronts next season. “We had a great chance in three competitions but we didn't have enough bodies to save our legs," he says. "Our signings give us the quality, experience and intensity of play we need.”
