Chelsea display earns Giggs new contract
Ryan Giggs will be handed a new Manchester United contract in the wake of his man-of-the-match display against Chelsea. Giggs, 35, is out of contract in June and had feared his glittering United career would come to an end. But Mirror Sport has learned that United are ready to hand Giggs an extension to keep him at Old Trafford until the end of the 2010 campaign. A United insider said: "Ryan will definitely be offered a new deal. He has kept himself in fantastic shape for a player of his age and he has proved that he still has a great deal to offer, with his wealth of experience."

The tabloids are dominated by Cristiano Ronaldo, as the Portuguese winger added the FIFA World Player of the Year award to his bulging collection. The United star didn't get John Terry's vote, though - the England skipper had Ronny in third place, behind Xavi and Fernando Torres.
Liverpool striker Torres is already looking ahead to his side's mid-March visit to Old Trafford, claiming: "I think the game at Old Trafford will decide the title."
Before they meet in M16, The Sun reckons Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafael Benitez are ready to do battle for young Brazilian defender Anderson, of Fluminense.
In other transfer news, The Daily Mail says Sir Alex is closely monitoring Lyon striker Karim Benzema. The 21-year-old French sensation has this week admitted that his future may lie away from Ligue 1, especially if Lyon are knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona.
