Adebayor’s United feeler
Emmanuel Adebayor’s £25million move to Manchester City took a dramatic twist yesterday when his advisers offered the Arsenal striker to Manchester United. It followed a breakdown in talks over Adebayor’s personal terms, with City reluctant to meet his demands for £170,000 a week. But United rejected the chance and City are still expected to sign the Togo centre forward whose work permit was renewed yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror and Daily Star claim there could still be more new faces at Old Trafford this summer after picking up David Gill's quote about “player activity” while the Reds are in Asia. However, the quote comes from a pre-tour interview conducted for ManUtd.com in June. NB player activity could also include loans, departures or contracts.
