Papers: Edwin's curtain call

Edwin set to call it a day
Edwin van der Sar will hang up his gloves at the end of next season. Manchester United's veteran keeper, 38, has discussed his plans with friends and family and will break the news to Alex Ferguson when he returns to pre-season training. England squad man Ben Foster, 26, is now finally set to get the chance to shine. A United source said: "Edwin has reviewed his options after each season and thinks this could be his last year. "He is determined to go out at the top and is raring to go next season."

On the day his United contract expires, striker Carlos Tevez fires a parting shot about Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to leave him out of the Champions League Final. "You cannot argue with Alex Ferguson," he said. "But he made a mistake to leave me on the bench. That was the only final the team had lost since I had been at United."

Meanwhile, The Mirror and other tabloids claim Luis Antonio Valencia has passed a medical and will complete a £16million move to United today, taking over Cristiano Ronaldo's number seven shirt.
