United Euro record - now for Liverpool
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Manchester United are in perfect shape to pile on the agony for crisis-hit Liverpool in Sunday’s Anfield showdown. Ferguson had good reason to be cheerful as United equalled Ajax’s record of 14 unbeaten away games in the Champions League with their win at CSKA Moscow. The victory virtually ensures their place in the knockout stages with three games to spare. Antonio Valencia scored the winner four minutes from time, Brazilian teenager Fabio Da Silva had an “outstanding” European debut and they picked up no fresh injuries on the artificial pitch in the Luzhniki Stadium.

The Express praises Valencia for his match-winning goal, while Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher tells the paper that United can expect a backlash at Anfield on Sunday.

The papers all pick up on United's record-equalling run of 14 away games unbeaten in Europe.

The Independent, however, says concerns over Wayne Rooney's fitness ahead of Sunday's clash with Liverpool cast a shadow over Wednesday's triumph.
