Robson: Don't give up
Owen Hargreaves has been urged not to give up on his career... by Bryan Robson. Injury-plagued Hargreaves is back in Colorado seeing knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman. The midfielder has made only 38 appearances in three years at Manchester United since his £17million move from Bayern Munich. But former United and England captain Robson, who had his own share of injury nightmares, says the 29-year-old must stay strong as he now battles to overcome a tendonitis problem. Robson said: "The one thing Owen can't do is give up. If you do, you're not going to come back. So you've just got to say: 'Unfortunately I've got these problems and had this operation, but if I'm determined enough then I can get back.' When you get an injury like Owen's had, it's a matter of thinking: 'This is what I'm going to miss - playing again. I've got to work hard and get fit'. "

Last night's tour match, a 2-1 loss to Kansas City Wizards, came too late to make the first edition papers but The Daily Star carries news of RIo Ferdinand's injury. Sir Alex confirmed at his pre-match press conference that the defender was facing another six weeks on the sidelines, meaning he may not kick a ball in a competitive match until September.
