Fergie's all go for Giorgio
Giorgio Chiellini's agent last night opened the door for a megabucks move from Juventus to Manchester United. SunSport told you yesterday the £25million-rated Italy ace is Alex Ferguson's No 1 target to replace wantaway Serbia centre-half Nemanja Vidic. Davide Lippi, son of Azzurri boss Marcello and Chiellini's agent, revealed: "United is a club and England is a country of great importance to us. We like them a lot. With Giorgio, we've decided that during the World Cup we won't think about the transfer market. But after the World Cup, we will think about everything. He is honoured to be of interest to United." Chiellini, 25, is the top centre-half in Serie A yet, as we revealed, he earns a modest £1.7million a year. Talks over a new deal have stalled. He has two years left on his current contract but Juve now run the risk of losing one of their most prized assets.

The Daily Mail report that United and City are keeping tabs on Argentina centre-half Guillermo Burdisso, while the Independent claims Udinese and Chile attacker Alexis Sanchez has caught Sir Alex's eye.
The Daily Star reckons Real Madrid are ready to offer a staggering £110m for Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney. A club source said last night: “There will be a couple of signings in the next two weeks but the big names will arrive after the World Cup. This is not madness. Rooney would be perfect for Real Madrid because of his hunger and desire. It is not impossible to sign him."
Meanwhile, the Daily Express says Michael Owen expects to be fit for the start of pre-season.
