Papers: Nani KO mystery

Nani KO mystery
Portugal chiefs have denied Nani was sent home from the World Cup for anything other than a shoulder injury. The Manchester United winger, hit by rumours of a rift, added fuel to the fire saying: "I'll be fine next week." But Portuguese FA bigwig Amandio de Carvalho said: "We're not hiding anything."

There's some interesting transfer news today; United will reportedly bid £25million for Italy and Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini. The 25-year-old is apparently top choice to replace Nemanja Vidic should the Serbian quit Old Trafford "as expected", say The Sun.

Zoran Tosic is set to join CSKA Moscow for £8million, according to the same paper. Cologne, where Tosic spent time on loan last season, wanted to extend the Serb World Cup star's stay, but United insisted on the transfer. Cologne director Michael Meier said: "It is hard for any German club to compete."

Rio Ferdinand returned home yesterday. He had stayed with the squad for the start of England's World Cup campaign despite suffering a knee injury that meant he wouldn't be able to play in the tournament. He is back now to continue his rehabilitation so that he is ready for the start of the new Premier League season.
