Franz Beckenbauer claims Bayern Munich are running scared of Wayne Rooney. The 64-year-old reckons Rooney’s dazzling form for Manchester United could spell bad news for the German giants when the two sides meet in the Champions League next Tuesday. Beckenbauer said: “He is doing an absolutely fantastic job for Manchester United. I must tell you that we at Bayern will fear him when we play United in the Champions League quarter-finals. He is a brilliant player who is playing better than ever. It is not easy to score 33 goals for your club in England or anywhere else. He has changed the way he plays and, at 24, has added a maturity to his game. Playing as the front man he makes it so hard for defenders to mark him and he is able to use the crosses from both wings so well. I have never seen him play better and I have been watching him for a long time now.”

Reports after United's win over Liverpool claimed Rooney was struggling with a niggling knee problem and The Independent claims the striker has not trained since Sunday's game.
Another player who has had his fair share of knee problems is Owen Hargreaves. The Daily Star also features quotes from the midfielder, who says he needs painkilling injections to help him get through training sessions and games. "I wouldn’t say I am pain free, but I am still getting some injections to try to manage the pain."
