Papers: Northern battle for Ganso

United fight City for Ganso's signature

Manchester United representatives have made contact with Santos about young midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso. Manchester City are believed to have first refusal on the 20-year-old as a result of the deal struck over City's on loan striker Robinho. However, City's option will expire when that loan ends on August 4.

Barcelona and Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, although it's believed he favours a switch to Chelsea.

One player who won't be joining United is Spurs playmaker Luka Modric who has signed a new six-year deal at White Hart Lane.

In other news, Cristiano Ronaldo admits he misses Manchester but doesn't regret leaving United for Real Madrid last summer.
