Fergie has got the hots for starlet Gotze
Alex Ferguson's interest in bringing Borussia Dortmund teenager Mario Gotze to Manchester United has intensified. The 18-year-old has cemented his place in the German side’s first team this season and his four Bundesliga goals have helped them to the top of the table. United boss Fergie has had scouts watch the attacking midfielder in action, according to German newspaper Das Bild , but have yet to make an official bid. In light of the academy graduate Gotze’s impressive form, Dortmund have raised his fee from £12m to a staggering £20m.
Meanwhile, The Mirror and the Daily Star run similar headlines - "Park strife" - following ManUtd.com's story on Ji-sung Park being ruled out for up to a month.
As the build-up to Saturday's David vs Goliath tie at Old Trafford continues, The Sun claims "Crawley’s stars are on just £150 a man to knock Manchester United’s millionaires out of the FA Cup." The same paper joins the Star in reporting Sir Alex's attendance at Wrexham last night, where the Reds' next opponents were held 0-0 in the Blue Square Bet Premier division. When the two non-league sides met in the reverse fixture at the weekend, Crawley came back from 0-2 down to win 3-2 with a hat-trick from top scorer Matt Tubbs.
