United go for Gordon
Sir Alex Ferguson has targeted Sunderland’s £15million-rated goalkeeper Craig Gordon to replace Edwin van der Sar at the end of the season. Gordon has been exceptional form this season and although suffering from a succession of injuries since moving to the Stadium of Light from Hearts for £9m three and a half years ago, Ferguson has earmarked the keeper as heir apparent to van der Sar. Ferguson has had Gordon watched on numerous occasions and with van der Sar set to retire or move in May, he wants a ready-made replacement with Premier League experience.
