Real are told: Pea off
Manchester United are set to treble Javier Hernandez's wages to £75,000 a week to keep Real Madrid at bay. Madrid have told United to name their price for striker 'Chicharito' - Little Pea. But United, who are closing in on a £20million deal for Ashley Young, plan to boost the 20-goal Mexican striker's pay by £50,000 a week. Boss Alex Ferguson is adamant hitman Hernandez, 23, is going nowhere so soon after joining from Chivas for £6m on a four-year contract. Hernandez is currently one of the lowest-paid players at United on £25,000 a week. Talks over a new deal will take place after his involvement in the CONCACAF Gold Cup where he hit a hat-trick in Mexico's opening game, a 5-0 rout of El Salvador.

The same paper claims West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has his eye on goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak after first-choice target Brad Friedel agreed a deal to Spurs last week. Kuszczak played at The Hawthorns before arriving at Old Trafford four years ago and Hodgson apparently hopes to lure him back with the promise of regular football.

Wayne Rooney’s hair transplant has made most of the papers, with the United star posting a picture of the results on his personal Twitter page. Meanwhile, The Independent claim Borussia Dortmund star Shinji Kagawa would be “an attractive alternative” should rumoured bids for Wesley Sneijder, Luka Modric or Samir Nasri fail.
