Papers: Ozil rules out Reds

The Daily Star reports...

Mesut Ozil says 'no'
Manchester United have failed in a bid for Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil. The German playmaker’s agent Reza Fazeli claims Manchester United made an attempt to lure him to Old Trafford last week. Fazeli insists he told United: “Thanks, but Ozil is very happy at Real Madrid.” And the player himself said last night: “I do not move from Madrid.” Ozil scored six goals last season after clinching a move to Real from Werder Bremen on the back of a stand-out World Cup last summer. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was thought to be interested last summer but lost out to Real’s financial muscle.

Elsewhere, there's widespread coverage of the Phil Jones deal that United and Blackburn announced yesterday. The exact fee still appears to be in doubt, though: The Sun claim it's £16.5million, The Mirror £20m. What is clear, though, is that Jones is delighted to have sealed the move. He described it yesterday as a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity".

And although it's not strictly United-related, we thought you'd like to know that Cristiano Ronaldo has turned down Manchester City. He told Cope Radio: "I'm not going to City. I give you my word. I'm not going. Money is not the most important thing."
