Papers: Eye on Blues
Smalling's City alert
Chris Smalling admits Manchester United have to take their so-called “noisy neighbours” seriously now. United defender Smalling acknowledges City not only have the quality and strength in depth in their squad to make a serious challenge for the Premier League title, but have also developed a better team spirit. “City have been investing and growing steadily and have hit some great form this season,” he said. “They are an even bigger threat this year than last. Given the amount of changes they have made, they are another year on now and are tighter and more together as a bunch of players. And they will get stronger as they get to know each either more.”Richard Tanner, Daily Express
Meanwhile, the Times claims Tom Cleverley will replace Ryan Giggs in United's midfield on Sunday.
Elsewhere, many of the sports pages are dominated by the Great Britain Olympic team. Stuart Pearce was unveiled as the manager yesterday and today The Mirror claims Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham could all feature for the side.
