Sir Alex Ferguson admits he is planning a break with his players to escape the pressure cooker atmosphere in Manchester but claims the exact location is a closely-guarded secret.
Newspaper reports on Thursday claimed the squad would depart for a Vale of Glamorgan spa resort in Wales but the boss would only reveal he is planning a mystery trip for the champions with the 2011/2012 Barclays Premier League trophy potentially on the line in Monday's derby at the Etihad Stadium.
When quizzed on the subject at his pre-match press conference, the Scot replied: "I don't know where you're getting Cardiff from! The players don't even know where we're going. I'm not going to tell them until the afternoon! It is a long weekend, as you pointed out, and I think we're doing the right thing."
The Reds will not be treating the match any differently in terms of the training at Carrington as Sir Alex hopes hard work will go a long way to helping his team obtain the right result against Roberto Mancini's City.
"The training programme is exactly the same," he explained. "We do our work. We do our preparation.
"The players have a fantastic work ethic and, hopefully, whatever happens in the training sessions transmits itself to the game situation."
