Papers: Nani exit plan

The Manchester Evening News reports...

Nani exit to set up double transfer swoop
An Old Trafford exit for Nani is set to fund a January transfer swoop by Sir Alex Ferguson. Porto’s Colombian winger James Rodriguez and Celtic’s midfield powerhouse Victor Wanyama have moved to the top of the Reds’ wanted list. Talks over a new contract for Nani, whose current deal ends in 2014, have stalled and both Juventus and Arsenal are thought to be interested in a £20m move. Manchester United’s chief European scout Martin Ferguson was at Celtic last month to watch Wanyama against Barcelona. Rodriguez has been dubbed the new Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal and United could even use Nani as bait to land the youngster in an audacious exchange deal.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mirror says Sir Alex will spend next week in New York to conduct business relating to his role as United’s ambassador to the Americas, though the tabloid also speculates that the boss will hold talks with Pep Guardiola to discuss “the potential of an eventual handover of power at Old Trafford from Scot to Spaniard.”

Finally, many of today’s papers include quotes from Ryan Giggs, taken from ManUtd.com’s Red Voices podcast. Among other things, the veteran winger discusses Robin van Persie’s arrival at the Theatre of Dreams, Wayne Rooney’s recent form and reveals what he’d buy Sir Alex for Christmas.
