Papers: Danny owes Wayne

Welbeck: I owe Roo
Danny Welbeck has revealed the role Wayne Rooney has played in preparing him for his Euro 2012 chance. The Manchester United striker will lead the England line against Sweden tomorrow boosted by his display in the opening draw with France. And while Rooney’s two-game suspension means the Scouse ace is yet to play a proper role in the tournament, Welbeck explained how his Old Trafford team-mate had been a guiding light and inspiration over the past week. He said: “When I was growing up, Wayne and Michael Owen were my inspirations. I’ve had a chance to grow up with them, watching them and training with them, over the past few years. I’ve got some tips off them as well. I’ve watched them in training to see how they work their stuff and try to take some tips into my own game. Wayne’s always there giving me advice on and off the pitch. He comes and talks to me just before the games, at half-time and everything. I’m glad to be around him. So he’s just always there, just letting you know what to do in the games, or if he’s seen a weakness in the opposition how you can exploit that.”

All the papers run stories on the Premier League securing its status as world football's richest competition with an astonishing £3.018billion deal for domestic TV rights for three years. Long-term partners Sky will show 116 games a season - the maximum allowed for one station - and newcomers BT have gained a 38-game foothold.

A number of the tabloids also report the big news that Wayne Rooney has had his hair cut!
