Ronaldo fires twin warning to United
Cristiano Ronaldo sent a chilling Champions League warning to Manchester United. The Real superstar’s Nou Camp double sunk bitter rivals Barca in front of Alex Ferguson and his No 2 Mike Phelan. And it earned under-fire Real boss Jose Mourinho a Spanish Cup final spot. Real and Ronaldo head to Old Trafford next week with their Champions League last-16 second-leg tie poised at 1-1. And former Red Devils favourite Ronaldo, who was targeted by a home supporter’s laser pen, said: “This win gives us enormous confidence for the game against Manchester United. It was a great game and we played brilliantly. From the first to the last minute we were very serious, with a great attitude. We played better than Barcelona, to score three goals at the Nou Camp is extremely complicated.”
Elsewhere, The Times claims Paris St Germain are ready to tempt United with a bumper offer for striker Wayne Rooney but is sketchy on the details of a potential deal, writing: “It is unclear at what price PSG - who are owned by the Qatar Investment Authority, the Gulf state’s multibillion-pound sovereign wealth fund - value Rooney, but a bid of about £40 million would demand some discussion at Old Trafford.”
The Daily Mail claims the Reds might be in the market to sign Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini in the summer, while The Mirror says Sir Alex might buy Ghanaian striker Jeffrey Schlupp, who is on trial from Leicester, after his positive performance for the Under-21s on Monday night.
