Papers: Giggs ponders future

The Sun's Martin Blackburn writes...

Giggs unsure whether to be a top 40 hit
Ryan Giggs is undecided over whether he will play on at Manchester United past his 40th birthday. The former Wales international rolled back the years with a dazzling performance during the 1-0 FA Cup replay win over West Ham on Wednesday. Old Trafford boss Alex Ferguson claimed his long-serving star is capable of playing on for another year. Giggs, who turns 40 in November but is out of contract in the summer, said: “I don’t know if I’ll have another year. I’m probably enjoying it now more than ever. If you don’t enjoy the FA Cup at Old Trafford then you should pack it in, but we’ll see what this season brings.”

The Daily Star claims that Wayne Rooney has been taken off penalty-taking duties, with Robin van Persie apparently asked to step up to the mark on a regular basis.

United have made a breakthrough in negotiations with Crystal Palace over a deal to sign Wilfried Zaha, according to the Daily Mail. The paper claims an initial £6million bid has been upped to £8m rising by a further £2m. However, the Daily Telegraph says that Arsenal are weighing up a late bid for the Championship starlet.

The Reds have taken young Leicester City attacker Jeff Schlupp on trial, according to The Independent. Schlupp scored a hat-trick on his debut for the Foxes away at Rotherham in the League Cup.
