Papers: Wanyama swoop?

The Manchester Evening News' Stuart Mathieson writes....

Reds leave it late for Wanyama swoop
United are weighing up a late transfer window swoop for Celtic midfield powerhouse Victor Wanyama. The Reds have scouted the 21-year-old Kenyan all season with Sir Alex Ferguson’s brother Martin a frequent visitor to Parkhead. The Old Trafford boss took a personal look at him last week during Celtic’s SPL home win over Dundee United while he was in Glasgow for the funeral of Celtic legend Sean Fallon, Jock Stein's former right-hand man. Arsenal are also keen on the £10m-rated ace, who joined the Scottish giants in 2011 from Belgian side Beerschot for just £900,00. Tough guy Wanyama is the kind of physical player the Reds are looking for to add to their midfield.

In other news, the Daily Mail say Southampton's new centre-back Vegard Forren is considering ringing former manager and idol Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for tips on how to cope with United on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, The Sun say former Red David Beckham is joining Arsenal today with his future still undecided. The free agent has agreed a top-secret plan with the Gunners to train with the first-team squad while he ponders his next move.
