The Sun's Charlie Wyett writes...
Zaha: I Wil sign for United
Wilfried Zaha looks to have confirmed his £12million move to Manchester United. The Crystal Palace star is guilty of an own goal via Twitter by claiming he is on his way to the Premier League leaders. He wrote “Looks like i’m on my way to the top of the premier league” on his account on Saturday night. Yet the message quickly disappeared and Zaha, 20, then backtracked yesterday. He posted: “I don’t know remember tweeting no such thing so I don’t know where the tweet came from #confused.” The message will be an embarrassment to Zaha and United boss Alex Ferguson — and will frustrate Palace fans. But United now look to have beaten Arsenal and Spurs in the race to sign him.
Jose Mourinho was at Old Trafford to see United's 2-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday and, looking forward to his Real Madrid side's forthcoming Champions League tie with the Reds, he told The Sun: "This is the match the world wants to see. Real Madrid against Manchester United. Sir Alex against his friend Mourinho. The only shame is that it is not the final."
Danny Welbeck earns praise from Daily Mail columnist Jamie Redknapp, who says of the young Mancunian's display against Liverpool: "Welbeck is not a regular at United, but he hasn't sulked or complained and he provided the energy for their win."
The Guardian says Sir Alex Ferguson's joy at Sunday's win was tempered by injuries to Ashley Young and Nemanja Vidic. The Times says Young left Old Trafford on crutches.
Michael Carrick is applauded for his contribution against Liverpool. The Guardian's Daniel Taylor writes: "The number-crunchers at Opta say the Premier League is 20% faster than five years ago. It's fast, frenetic and doesn't let up, and it takes a special player to see the right pass at this level and have the ability, almost every time, to play it with the perfect weight."
