All systems Thiago
David Moyes is winning his battle to bring Thiago Alcantara to United. The Barcelona playmaker is ready to quit the Nou Camp in favour of Old Trafford in order to maximise his chances of making Spain’s World Cup squad next summer. And new Reds chief Moyes is determined to make the Spanish Under-21 star his first major signing since replacing Sir Alex Ferguson as United boss. Reports in Spain say the clubs will meet this week to finalise the transfer. Thiago is available for £17m as he did not feature in the number of first-team games stated in his Barca contract and it is claimed that he is poised to sign a five-year deal with the Reds. “United will always be close to the best players,” Moyes said. “I will inform the supporters as much as I can. Some things are confidential but I am doing everything I possibly can to strengthen the current English champions.”
The same paper also reports on the Robert Lewandowski transfer saga after it was confirmed by Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp that the Polish striker will join European champions Bayern Munich. “I believe it’s a fact that he will move to Bayern after the coming season,” Klopp is quoted.
Elsewhere, The Telegraph says the world’s fastest man and renowned United fan, Usain Bolt, is set to play in Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial against Sevilla at Old Trafford next season.
