Ronaldo jokes "incredible" Giggs will play until he's 50
Cristiano Ronaldo has paid tribute to Ryan Giggs and said: “He’ll still be playing when he’s 50!” Giggs notched up the 1,000th appearance of his career in Manchester United’s 2-1 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid. And former United hero Ronaldo, who scored the goal that knocked his old club out, said the longevity of Giggs, who'll be 40 in November, defied belief. “Giggsy is going to finish when he’s 50 years old!” said Ronaldo [speaking in an exclusive interview with MUTV]. “He’s an incredible player. He’s still fit and still playing in this kind of game. It’s unbelievable. Giggsy is the flag of his club and I’m happy for him.”

Wayne Rooney started on the bench in the Champions League last 16 second-leg tie against Real Madrid on Tuesday, which assistant boss Mike Phelan said was a tactical decision. However, it has since prompted speculation about the striker's future in all of the UK’s daily national newspapers.

Chelsea’s big-haired Brazilian defender David Luiz reckons the Blues can capitalise on United’s disappointment at going out of the Champions League when the two teams meet in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Old Trafford on Sunday. “The happiness in Manchester United’s hearts will not be there and Chelsea can use this to win our game on Sunday,” he is quoted as saying in The Sun.
