Papers: Ronaldo going nowhere

Jeremy Cross writes in the Daily Star...

Madrid to offer Ronaldo deal
Real Madrid will make Cristiano Ronaldo the highest-paid star in the world to stop him making a sensational return to Manchester United. United have spent the last six months working on a blockbuster deal to lure Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, as exclusively revealed in Starsport. The Premier League champions are desperate to re-sign Ronaldo to boost their chances of winning the Champions League. Billionaires Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on landing the Portuguese superstar. But Florentino Perez, the president of Real, has no intention of selling Ronaldo and is willing to break the bank to keep him at the Bernabeu. Perez is up for re-election at the Spanish giants next season and knows keeping the club’s prized asset would guarantee him being voted in again. Now Perez is willing to sanction a mind-boggling deal for Ronaldo worth close to £300,000 a week.

The Star also report that David Moyes will block a move from Crystal Palace to take Wilfried Zaha back on a season-long loan deal. The paper claim Palace want to keep the young forward for another 12 months but "Moyes is keen to work with Zaha and mould him into a Premier League star".

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail claim United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen is a contender for the vacant Wigan Athletic position. Roberto Martinez stepped down as manager of the Latics last week.
