Varela showed himself to be a creative presence in Warren Joyce’s side early on, providing three assists in his first seven games.
Varela continued to develop in his early days at Old Trafford, playing the full 90 minutes for Joyce’s side during a 1-0 defeat at home to Stoke City at the beginning of the month.
The Uruguayan’s education continued with United’s Under-21s, for whom he made one appearance this month, playing all 90 minutes of the 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers.
