he was ruled out of action for four to six weeks with an Achilles injury.
The England international made just two appearances at the end of the month after recovering from injury. A 17-minute cameo off the bench helped the Reds close out the 3-2 comeback at Hull on Boxing Day, while Carrick’s first start since the win over Arsenal in November came in the hard-fought win over Norwich at Carrow Road in the last match of 2014.
Carrick appeared in five of the seven fixtures during January but the month ended in disappointment for the midfielder. He picked up an ankle injury in the second leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final against Sunderland as the Reds were knocked out of the competition.
The midfielder played every minute of the Reds’ fixtures this month, and his first goal of the season looked to have given United all three points against Fulham until Darren Bent’s late equaliser. His eye for a pass was as strong as ever, and he picked out some of his favourites during a chat with United fans on Twitter during the month.
