Shinji made four starts in the final month of the year, in the draw at Tottenham, the defeat to Everton, and the wins over Shakhtar Donetsk and Norwich.

January 2014
Kagawa made four appearances in January, with his standout display coming in the 2-0 victory over Swansea. After a goalless first half, he switched positions with Adnan Januzaj and moved into the 'number 10' role, and was praised by team-mate Danny Welbeck for his contribution. "I thought Shinji made the difference," said Welbeck. "Once we moved him into the middle he looked like he was at home and he really switched it on for us."

February 2014
It was a quiet month for the Japanese star, whose only appearance came off the bench against Olympiacos. His introduction in Athens sparked a definite lift in United’s tempo, but his efforts were in vain on a night to forget.

March 2014
Kagawa made four appearances during March, the best of which came in the 4-1 win at home to Aston Villa.
