A tenacious right-back who has shown plenty of promise during his rise through the ranks.
Although born in Rochdale, he has been capped at Scotland at youth level for both the Under-17s and Under-19s.
In his nine appearances in 2011/2012, five as a starter, he showed plenty of flair for getting forward and had the composure to pick out a man when getting into dangerous positions. This was beautifully illustrated in the FA Youth Cup win against Torquay United at Moss Lane, when he set up a goal for Gyliano van Velzen.
The following season, he began to really look the part as an accomplished performer in his position but injury problems limited his appearances to 18 as a starter for Paul McGuinness' side. Nonetheless, his work in defence and linking up with the attack caught the eye and he even enjoyed the honour of scoring at Old Trafford, albeit in the defeat to Burnley in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.
After signing professional terms in 2013, he will aim to break into the Under-21s as he was around Warren Joyce's squad towards the end of the campaign.
