Reserves eye silverware

United's Reserves can make a silver-lined start to the new campaign on Wednesday, when they take on Liverpool in the Lancashire Senior Cup final.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be aiming for his first trophy as a manager in only his fourth game at the helm of the Reds' second string, and he has named a strong squad to take the field at the Lancashire FA County Ground in Leyland.

Fraizer Campbell, Danny Simpson, David Gray and Darron Gibson all have senior debuts under their belts, while Ben Amos, Craig Cathcart, Rodrigo Possebon, Sam Hewson and Tom Cleverley have all featured in the first team's pre-season campaign this summer.

Wednesday's match kicks off at 7:45pm and will be decided by penalties if the scores are tied after 90 minutes. Tickets are priced £8 for adults and £4 for under-16s or over-65s, and can be purchased at the turnstiles.

United squad: Amos, Zieler; Simpson, Chester, Cathcart, Strickland, Gill, Dudgeon, Eckersley; Gray, Possebon, Gibson, Drinkwater, C Evans, Derbyshire, Hewson, Cleverley; Campbell, Eikrem.
