Reserves to face Bhoys

United's Reserves will take on Celtic's second string in a friendly ahead of the clubs' Champions League meeting in early November.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side will face the Bhoys on Wednesday, 5 November, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will put his youngsters up against their Scottish equivalents earlier that day, at a venue yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, the Reds will start their defence of the Lancashire Senior Cup against last year's beaten semi-finalists, Accrington Stanley, on Monday 15 December.

In the Barclays Premier Reserve League, United's trip to Manchester City has been put back 24 hours, while November's home game against Liverpool has shifted to Thursday, 29 January.

Having come through a gruelling nine-game pre-season campaign unbeaten, hopes are high for the Reserves when they kick-off the season proper this Thursday evening, against Blackburn Rovers at the Marston's Arena.
