United came back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw with Altrincham in a friendly at Moss Lane with goals from two players who were handed Barclays Premier League shirt numbers on Friday.
With the first team in action at Goodison, this fixture was a chance of a run-out for a number of players with Tomasz Kuszczak starting in goal.
The Pole was beaten after four minutes when Jack Redshaw converted a pass from ex-Red Michael Twiss. The impressive Redshaw then doubled the advantage with a side-foot finish following Simon Richman's pass.
Undaunted, the Reds battled back and scored before the break courtesy of Jesse Lingard's calm finish as the youngster rounded Adam Reid to find the net. Ravel Morrison, one of a raft of substitutes, levelled matters with a fine effort following a Lingard cross and Altrincham were forced to hold out for a draw.
Morrison was unlucky with a header and there were a few close shaves for the hosts but it finished 2-2.
