Under-21s entertain Saints

United's Under-21s face a top-of-the-table encounter with Southampton at Moss Lane on Monday night.

The South Coast side had two wins and two draws at the start of the campaign but were defeated by Stoke in their last outing at this level. Highly-rated full back Luke Shaw could feature and former Celtic keeper Artur Boruc was in goal for the 1-0 defeat to the Potters.

Warren Joyce is without a number of players who are away on international duty, including the likes of Robbie Brady, Nick Powell and Marnick Vermijl.

Bebe is drafted in for his first Under-21 appearance while Joshua King leads the line despite being in Norway's plans for their World Cup qualifiers. With a number of defenders in the line-up, Tom Thorpe is an option to anchor the midfield while keeper Pierluigi Gollini makes his debut at this level.

The Reds remain unbeaten after a goalless draw at Sunderland last week but will aim to show more of a cutting edge in front of the home supporters at Altrincham's Moss Lane.

United (provisional team): Pierluigi Gollini; Scott Wootton, Michael Keane, Michele Fornasier, Tyler Blackett; Bebe, Tom Thorpe, Larnell Cole, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Jesse Lingard; Joshua King. Subs: Frederic Veseli, Joel Pereira, Sean McGinty, Reece James, Luke Hendrie.

The match is live on MUTV with kick-off at 19:00 BST.
