Key opener at new venue

Manchester United's Under-21s start the defence of the Barclays Premier League title with a mouthwatering clash against Liverpool at the Salford City Stadium.

The Reds played at the venue once last term, defeating eventual fellow-finalists Tottenham 1-0, but will host the lion's share of the 2013/2014 home campaign at the 12,000-capacity stadium.

Warren Joyce's side came from behind in spectacular fashion to beat Spurs at Old Trafford last May in the inaugural final but at least two of the starters in that game - Ryan Tunnicliffe and Reece James - are unavailable after being loaned to Ipswich Town and Carlisle United respectively.

Michael Keane, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzaj have since been promoted to the first-team squad for the tour but may still be available for the fixture against United's big rivals.

Goalkeeper Ben Amos was the only over-aged player in the trophy-winning side and could feature again after Sam Johnstone joined Yeovil Town on loan on Saturday.
