Liverpool test for U21s

Liverpool provide the opposition for Warren Joyce's Under-21s on Monday night.

The clash with the Merseysiders is taking place at Langtree Park, home of Rugby League side St Helens, and is being screened live by MUTV.

Joyce will be without Ryan Tunnicliffe, who has joined Barnsley on loan, and almost certainly Reece Brown as well after Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy confirmed he expects to snap up the defender until the end of the season.

The Reds coach was not pleased with the performance in the last outing, a 3-1 defeat at Tottenham, and will expect a more competitive display against United's traditional rivals. A lack of available strikers has led to Nick Powell moving up front in the past couple of matches while Adnan Januzaj has been in good form of late.

Liverpool lost a long unbeaten record at this level against high-flying Spurs recently but are likely to provide a stiff test.
