Reds in Blue Stars action

Manchester United have taken an 18-man squad to Switzerland for the Blue Stars FIFA Youth tournament.

Warren Joyce is in charge of the side as the Reds aim to lift the trophy for the 19th time in its prestigious 75-year history. The travelling party is a mix of Under-21 and Under-18 players and United are competing in the group stages against Blue Stars, Torino and FC Zurich.

The Reds defeated Blue Stars 1-0 in the opening fixture on Wednesday with Adnan Januzaj scoring the goal from a free-kick. The scoreline was repeated against Torino with Januzaj again the matchwinner when blasting home to settle a combative match against the Italian side.

A goalless draw with FC Zurich ensured three successive clean sheets and a successful first day in the competition with Januzaj going close to keeping up his goal-a-game record. Cedric Brunner fired one chance wide for the Swiss outfit but an exciting encounter finished 0-0.

Squad: Jonny Sutherland, Joel Castro Pereira; Liam Grimshaw, Nicholas Ioannou, Reece James, Donald Love, Luke McCullough, Tom Thorpe; Larnell Cole, Mats Daehli, Charni Ekangamene, Ben Pearson, Andreas Pereira, James Weir; Jack Barmby, Adnan Januzaj, Tom Lawrence, James Wilson.
