The Reds' Under-18s were pegged back by a determined Sheffield United side in the penultimate Academy game of the 2007/08 season on Saturday.
Paul McGuinness' young side got off to a cracking start when Italian striker Federico Macheda put United in front in the ninth minute.
The Reds had come flying out of the blocks to dominate the game's early moments, and it was no surprise when Macheda struck before the ten-minute mark after good work from Danny Galbraith on the left wing.
However, the home side gradually came into the match and scored an equaliser midway through the first half through a Jack Adams header.
Goalscoring opportunities were sparse in the second half, although the Blades had an effort chalked off for offside.
Nevertheless there was some good football played by both teams throughout an entertaining match.
The Reds travel to Newcastle on Saturday 12 April for the final match of the season.
