After successive defeats to Manchester City and Stoke, United's U18s returned to winning ways with a hard fought victory at Crewe.
The Reds took the lead on 15 minutes when Evandro Brandao finished with aplomb.
Crewe striker Alex Titchener drew the home side level 10 minutes later when he drilled the ball past Conor Devlin. Crewe had a second disallowed just after the half hour mark and five minutes after the restart they found themselves 2-1 down.
Crewe goalkeeper Daniel Platt raced off his line to meet the onrushing Nicky Ajose who lifted the ball over Platt towards Ryan Tunnicliffe in the centre. His goalbound header was cleared off the line by Chris Peel, but Tunnicliffe was on hand to fire home the rebound.
Titchener made it 2-2 on 63 minutes after calmly rounding Devlin having being put through by Ben Marshall.
Five minutes from time United grabbed the winner when second half substitute Daniel Galbraith latched onto Oliver Norwood's fine pass and curled a brilliant effort past Platt.
