United's Under-18s earned a 2-2 draw against Leeds on Saturday, after a late equaliser secured a point in a hard-fought game against Elland Road's youngsters.
Midfielder Ravel Morrison and defender Zeki Fryers were on the scoresheet for Paul McGuinness' young side.
Morrison had spurned a good early chance after a brilliant, intricate passing move from United. The Wythenshawe-born midfielder blazed over the bar from 18 yards, although the ball did appear to bobble before he struck it.
However, the 16-year-old was not so profligate with his next opportunity. John Cofie made a powerful surge through the heart of the Leeds midfield before slipping a pass to Morrison, who, from a much tighter angle, lashed his right-footed shot into the far corner.
In the second half there was another emphatic finish from a United midfielder, but unfortunately for Ryan Tunnicliffe, who was trying to clear a Leeds attack, he blasted the ball past Conor Devlin into his own net.
Leeds continued to press forward in blustery conditions, and as the Reds failed to deal with a swirling cross to the far post, the home side found themselves in front.
