Paul McGuinness' youngsters have now racked up 15 goals in their group games and their free-flowing football continues to impress. Jack Barmby is enjoying himself in the tournament and he showed great skill to beat Dominic Scott and two defenders to open the scoring.
It was soon 2-0 when Scott spilled the ball to Jack Rudge and he pounced on the rebound. Hartlepool pulled one back when a Callum Wilson corner somehow found its way into the net with the scrappy effort possibly going down as an own goal.
Rudge restored the two-goal lead before half-time when showing an excellent touch to bring the ball down before rounding Scott to score. Fans' favourite Mats Daehli, who was very popular with the locals, added the coupe de grace when starting and finishing a move that led to him firing through Scott's legs.
Hartlepool were gritty opponents, with Jonathan Wright hitting a post, but holders Etoile from Africa will surely provide the sternest test yet in the last four.
United: Coll, Blackett, Wilkinson (Ekangamene), McCullough, Rudge, Weir (Hendrie), Daehli, van Velzen (Wilson), Barmby (Rothwell), Pearson, Lawrence.
