Torrential rain in South Yorkshire led to the game being called off after 35 minutes with surface water ensuring the match was becoming a lottery.

The team news was notable for the debut of midfielder Andreas Pereira, a recent recruit from PSV Eindhoven.

It was later confirmed that the result would stand as a goalless draw and the fixture would not be rearranged.
