United's youngsters competed in the Marveld Under-15 tournament in Holland with first-team coach Rene Meulensteen accompanying the squad.
The Dutch competition is for schoolboys born on or after 1 January 1997 with some of the top clubs in the world taking part.
The Reds went all the way to the final, a best-ever performance in a decade of travelling over for the event, before losing 4-0 to Bayer Leverkusen.
Feyenoord were overcome on penalties in the semi-finals after a 0-0 draw while United topped the qualifying group following FC Ghana's results being annulled. After opening with a 1-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven, the youngsters played out a goalless draw with Liverpool and scored a late equaliser in a 1-1 tie with Marseille.
Although the boys lost 2-0 to the aforementioned FC Ghana, a 3-1 success in the final group match with SV Grol clinched first spot and a place in the last four.
