United deserved the 1-0 lead after taking the initiative away from their lively guests, but barely two minutes later Norwich were level. Cameron King delivered a teasing centre and Carlton Morris capitalised on a lapse in the Reds' defence to claim the equaliser and ultimately level the scoreline for half-time.
Wilson threatened to put the Reds ahead again on the hour mark when his pace carried him into the Norwich area but with the Canaries’ defence backtracking, his hurried shot flew well wide.
United would only have another five minutes to wait before going 2-1 up, with Wilson again involved as he tested Liam Priestley in Norwich's goal with another low drive. The keeper managed to parry but Harrop was on hand to crack home on the rebound.
The Reds' shot-stopper Joel Pereira pulled off a fabulous point-blank save of his own to preserve United's lead, giving Wilson the platform to extend it with eleven minutes remaining by taking the ball round Priestley before firing into an unprotected net.
Morris grabbed his second goal of the game for Norwich with two minutes left on the clock to set-up an exciting climax to an entertaining contest. Nonetheless, United were worthy winners as their start to the Academy League season gathers momentum.
