Manchester United's Under-19s must defeat Shakhtar Donetsk in the final Group A game on Monday in order to qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Youth League.
Nicky Butt's youngsters revived hopes of progression with a superb win at leaders Real Sociedad but were beaten 3-1 last time out at Bayer Leverkusen. The loss was not terminal to the European hopes due to a draw between Shakhtar and Sociedad but nothing less than victory will suffice against the Ukrainians.
The venue for the crunch clash is the Leigh Sports Village, scene of the recent away victory against Blackburn Rovers at Under-21 level. James Wilson scored in that fixture and is likely to captain Butt's team in Liam Grimshaw's absence.
Grimshaw is suspended, along with James Weir, but the Reds can take heart from a dominant second-half performance in Donetsk, which deserved far better than the concession of a late winner to Oleksandr Zubkov.
Exciting youngsters Devonte Redmond and Demetri Mitchell have been added to the squad.
