U19s face crunch clash

Manchester United Under-19s head into the clash with Bayer Leverkusen at the Ulrich-Haberland Stadion aiming to build on the impressive triumph at Real Sociedad.

Nicky Butt's youngsters boosted hopes of qualification with a 2-0 win on the group leaders' home patch and sit a point behind second-placed Shakhtar Donetsk in Group A with the top two progressing to the knockout stages.

Ben Pearson returns from suspension and versatile captain Liam Grimshaw is fit again and available. Pierluigi Gollini and Joel Castro Pereira will compete for the goalkeeper's position.

Joe Rothwell, who scored the second goal in Sociedad, appreciates it is an important game for the Reds with the sides putting on a real show in United's 4-3 win at the AJ Bell Stadium in the opening match of the competition.

"We knew it was a must-win game in Spain if we wanted to go any further in the competition," the midfielder told "We had a game plan and stuck to it. We have to do the same now over in Germany.

"We're not thinking too far ahead. We're concentrating on getting three points on Wednesday."
