Butt sets stiff target

Nicky Butt has challenged his Under-19 side to win all three remaining UEFA Youth League fixtures after a 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad hit United's qualification hopes.

Shakhtar Donetk's victory over bottom-placed Bayer Leverkusen leaves the Reds three points behind the Ukrainians while Sociedad seem certain to progress after beating all three opponents. United need a positive result in the Basque Country and will be without Ben Pearson following his late dismissal at the AJ Bell Stadium.

"I've just said to the players that, if we're going to qualify, we have to win all three games in my opinion," Butt told MUTV. "We're capable of that and I know that but I can't keep saying we're capable of this and capable of that. We've got to go out on the pitch and prove it by showing what we're made of. It's in there - it's just getting it out of them."

Sociedad were good value for the three points in the end after Alvaro Odriozola's early effort proved to be the only goal of the game.
