Manchester United's Under-18s ended the season on a high with Josh Harrop scoring both goals in an impressive 2-1 win at Everton.
The Toffees have reached the play-offs of the competition but were second best on the day with United running out deserved victors thanks to skipper Harrop's brace.
Delial Brewster forced a diving save out of Dean Henderson but Russell Griffiths was equally alert in dealing with an effort from Ruairi Croskery as both sides created chances. On the half-hour mark, Gethin Jones was given a perfect opportunity to score but saw his penalty brilliantly kept out by Henderson's diving save to his left.
Instead, it was the Reds who drew first blood, courtesy of an expertly-placed free-kick by Harrop. Although Harry Charsley headed an equaliser from a Liam Walsh set-piece, the hosts' joy was short-lived as Harrop, who came on as a late substitute for the Under-21s at Liverpool on Friday night, fired past Griffiths from inside the box.
The Reds were pretty comfortable despite Everton looking for a route back into the game to round the campaign off nicely.
