A young keeper with plenty of potential, Jonny was formerly with Crewe Alexandra.
The 6ft youngster joined the Reds in 2006 and was one of five shot-stoppers used by Paul McGuinness over the course of the 2011/2012 season.
Most impressively, he was given the nod for the key FA Youth Cup games against Chelsea at the semi-final stage after performing superbly in the quarter-final win over Charlton Athletic at Old Trafford.
In fact, all his appearances came in the competition but it means he is likely to be a strong contender for the
No1 jersey next term.
Having already trained with England at youth level, it's clear he is highly regarded and some of his saves in the Charlton match in particular were right out of the top drawer.
At the start of the 2012/2013 campaign, he was included in Noel Blake's England Under-19 squad.
