Soccer Aid 2014

A Clarence Seedorf hat-trick inspired Jose Mourinho’s Rest of the World team to a 4-2 win over England at Old Trafford in Soccer Aid 2014.

The Dutch midfielder was impressive throughout the bi-annual charity game and opened the scoring with a blinding effort into the roof of the net just after half-time. Nicky Byrne made it 2-0 with another excellent finish, before England came back to level proceedings.

Seedorf then curled home a deflected effort four minutes from time before completing his treble in added-on time to seal a 4-2 victory in the game which raised £4.2million for UNICEF.

Jose Mourinho joined Soccer Aid 2014’s list of latest big name signings as manager of the Rest of the World team. Other signings for the epic charity match held at Old Trafford on Sunday 8 June included Hollywood star Jeremy Renner (The Avengers, The Bourne Legacy, The Hurt Locker), Italian footballing legend Alessandro Del Piero and actor Santiago Cabrera (The Musketeers, Heroes). All of them will be in Mourinho's squad to take on Sam Allardyce and Robbie Williams' England side.

Jose Mourinho said: "Thanks to UNICEF for asking me to manage the Rest of the World team for Soccer Aid at Old Trafford.

"I'm looking forward to beating Robbie Williams' and Big Sam’s England team and raising money for UNICEF."

Money raised through Soccer Aid goes to UNICEF's invaluable work helping children around the world. This will be the fifth Soccer Aid event, with the previous matches, held at Wembley in 2008 and at Old Trafford in 2006, 2010 and 2012, raising over £12million in total for UNICEF's work.
