Tour 2014: Roma profile

Star man Although now into his late 30s, it is difficult to look beyond Francesco Totti as Roma’s talisman, leader and all-round most accomplished player. The local hero is the club’s all-time top goalscorer and was at the peak of his powers last season, orchestrating the club’s stellar start to the campaign. New signing Ashley Cole will be hoping to make an impression against the Reds.

Last season Roma enjoyed one of their most consistent seasons in years and were runners-up to champions Juventus, ensuring automatic qualification for the 2014/15 Champions League group stages.

Did you know? Roma’s club crest features a wolf and two young babies. It depicts the story of Romulus and Remus, the founders of the city of Rome.
